New and noteworthy indie, rock and metal albums for this fall

We take a sneak peek at brand-new albums, ranging from electronic to soul and indie to metal. See what to listen below!

Melancholic electro and top-notch soul

Producer Jori Hulkkonen keeps on being as busy as always: in spring he released a self-titled album under his Nuclear Winter Garden alias via My Favourite Robot Records and in summer he put out Death by Semantics EP through Areal Records. Next week My Favourite Robot Records will release his first solo artist album under his own name in half a decade, titled Oh But I Am.

Also Jori Hulkkonen’s duo Sin Cos Tan has been prolific throughout their career: three years in, they’ve released three albums and next month they’re due to drop new EP titled Smile. Tomorrow Will Be Worse via Solina Records. Also coming up from Solina is lush indie pop band Sans Parade’s second full-length Artefacts, out on November 27.

Barack Obama’s favourites, Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators return October 2 with new album Happiness in Every Style, which is premiered now by New York Times’ music service Press Play.

Ominous drones and full-throttle assaults

Cosmic drone doom metal group Dark Buddha Rising’s album Inversum consists of two 25-minute tracks, ”E S O” and ”E X O”. The album is the band’s debut for US-based Neurot Recordings, and it was released in late September.

Psychedelic rock group Death Hawks joined the ranks of Svart Records earlier this month, and announced new album Sun Future Moon, due to be released on November 13.

Melodic death metal group Children of Bodom’s latest album I Worship Chaos, which is the group’s ninth full-length, comes out early October via Nuclear Blast.

One of Finland’s rising metal talents, Speedtrap released their speed metal oozing second album Straight Shooter in September, followed by a German tour.

Michael Monroe’s upcoming studio album goes by the title Blackout States, and it’ll be released on October 9 via Spinefarm Records. Monroe will hit the road with Hardcore Superstar and Alice Cooper later this year.
