A guide to Finnish summer festivals 2025

Finland is an ideal summer holiday spot with hundreds of music festivals to offer: the midnight sun is gentle, and the days are warm but not blistering hot. Keep reading this listing and get acquainted with some of the most prominent ones, from classical to pop, folk to heavy metal, edm to indie and beyond!

Helsinki Music Week 8–10 May

Debuting in 2025, the brand new event Helsinki Music Week will take place across a span of historical and cultural landmarks in the city including Temppeliaukio Church, Post Bar and Kuudes Linja. The inaugural edition is split into two parts, HMW City and HMW Finale. The program is very contemporary and hip, focusing on club music, electronic and somewhat experimental artists. On the bill are e.g. Sega Bodega (FR), Fakemink (UK), Erika De Casier (DK), CJ Bolland (UK) and Lust for Youth (DK), along with local names such as Jaakko Eino Kalevi, Grande Mahogany, Pearly Drops, Desto, Ada Aik, and Sansibar.

World Village Festival 24–25 May

Over the past thirty years, World Village Festival (Maailma Kylässä) has established itself as one of the largest free festivals for the whole family. With a strong focus – but not restriction – to global and roots, World Village’s programme offers a wide variety of music, dance, street art, panel discussions, and other activities. The programme of the festival's 30th anniversary year includes international acts like Sarab (SY/FR), Ana Tijoux (CL/FR), Majur (BR), and Ebo Krdum (SD) along with Finnish artists like Grande Mahogany and Isaac Sene.

Organ Night & Aria Festival 3 June–28 Aug

One of the oldest classical music festivals in Finland, Organ Night & Aria Festival (Urkuyö) is a series of weekly concerts spread throughout the summer, offering a variety of classical music on Thursday evenings in the medieval stone church in Espoo, just outside of Helsinki. This year's highlights include a concert of Arvo Pärt's works with Tapiola Sinfonietta and Helsinki Music Hall Choir, conducted by Nils Schweckendiek, and Meta4's performance of Jaakko Kuusisto's Play III. The opera singer Tuomas Katajala is serving as Artistic Director of the festival.

Naantali Music Festival 3–14 June

Held in concert venues in Naantali, Rymättylä, Raisio, and Seili Island, Naantali Music Festival's program highlights this year include harpist Laura Hynninen's performance of her own compositions, and Hannu Lintu conducting Sinfonia Lahti's performance of Sibelius, Sallinen and Strauss compositions. Also on the schedule are singers such as Tuuli Lindeberg, Ville Rusanen, and Aarne Pelkonen, violinists Elina Vähälä, Anna-Liisa Bezrodny, and Minna Pensola, and ensembles like Meta4, and Kamus, along with countless others.

Kesärauha 6–8 June

Turku’s indie and alternative event, Kesärauha (“summer peace”) is considered on of the cosiest indie festivals in Finland. For their fifth year, the lineup at the three-day festival features dozens of acts, from domestic names like Goldielocks, Grande Mahogany, Us, Husky Rescue, Damn Seagulls, Giant Robot, and Regina to international acts like Mew (DK), Sigrid (NO), Nilüfer Yanya (UK), Lambrini Girls (UK), Okay Kaya (NO) and countless more!

Silence festival 5–8 June

Held this year for the 15th time, Silence festival gathers the most interesting performances and artists from Finland and abroad to Lapland. The multidisciplinary art and culture program is spread in and around the small village of Kaukonen in the Kittilä municipality. So far, only a handful of artists have been published, such as Signe, Awake Percussion, Lapin Faarao (Kristian Smeds, Hannu-Pekka Björkman, Verneri Pohjola and Kirke Karja), so there are lots more still to be announced!

Rockfest 12–14 June

Finland's rock'n'roll summer starts with a bang in Turku, where the popular Rockfest festival moved this year from Hyvinkää, after taking a gap year in 2024. With a steady lineup of rock and metal mainstays such as Judas Priest (UK), Muse (UK), Sepultura (BR), The Cult (UK), D-A-D (DK), Manic Street Preachers (UK), Ugly Kid Joe (US), Bullet for My Valentine (UK), Till Lindemann (DE), Black Flag (US), Millencolin (SE), H.E.A.T. (SE) and Die Krupps (DE) reinforced by current favorites like RØRY (UK), Ghøstkid (DE), Health (US), and Immortal Disfigurement (US) along with heaps of local greats like Cemetery Skyline, Demolition 23, Battle Beast, Mokoma, Stam1na, Kilpi, Awake Again, and Crownshift, Rockfest is sure to make your neck sore afterward!

Helsinki City Festival 13–14 June

Organized for the first time in 2024 in Bolt Arena, Helsinki City Festival will now move to the adjacent lot, the ice hall ground "Nordic". The main draw here is the nostalgic pop and hiphop names from the past three decades: Sean Paul (JA), Hurts (UK), Sugababes (UK), Adam Lambert (US), Fabolous (US), Afrojack (NL), Vengaboys (NL), Cascada (DE), Benny Benassi (IT), Tinie Tempah (UK), Inna (RO), Culture Beat (DE), Las Ketchup (ES) and Basic Element (SE) will all perform, aided with some local greats like Bomfunk MC's, Don Johnson Big Band, Kemopetrol, Redrama, and Waldo's People.

Nummirock 18–21 June

For a headbanging midsummer, we cannot help but recommend going up to the west coast for Nummirock, a festival with a decades-long history. In 2025, the lineup features acts such as Alestorm (UK), Marduk (SE), Cattle Decapitation (US), and Signs Of The Swarm (SE) as well as local heroes Mokoma, Turmion Kätilöt, Cemetary Skyline and Havukruunu, to name a few.

Sommelo 23–29 June

Even in the global landscape of festivals, folk music festival Sommelo is truly a unique one. Sommelo is a folk music festival that grows from local roots into a nationwide and international celebration. The entire town of Kuhmo bursts with the colorful fireworks of traditional and memory-based music, presented in both traditional and modern interpretations. Rune singing, instrumental performances, and diverse artistic experiences come together with nature, humanity, and the universe. This year’s theme for Sommelo is In the Forest. Sommelo's for program for this year will be published during the Spring.

XXXVIII Summer Sounds 25–29 June

The 40th Avanti! Summer Sounds festival will again take over Porvoo as it runs at the city's Art Factory venue and its surroundings from June 27 to 30. The program, curated by the artistic director, composer Sebastian Fagerlund incldues e.g. Émilie, an opera by composer Kaija Saariaho and librettist Amin Maalouf, performed by Avanti! chamber orchestra conducted by Neige Barriere with sopranos Pia Freund and Meeri Pulakka, and cembalist Marianna Henriksson.

Provinssi 26–28 June

Held in Seinäjoki, South Ostrobothnia, Provinssi is one of Finland’s largest and oldest rock festivals. This year the international artists include hard and heavy rockers like In Flames (SE), Avenged Sevenfold (US), Electric Callboy (DE), Lorna Shore (US), Knocked Loose (US), The Hives (SE) and Bambie Thug (IE). You can also find a great selection of well-established Finnish artists on the line-up, such as Battle Beast, Erika Vikman, Lost Society and Swallow the Sun, as well as a good handful of exciting new names, like Joalin, Luna Kills and Emilia Sisco.

Haapavesi Folk Music Festival 26–28 June

Haapavesi Folk Music Festival’s (founded in 1989) program consists of Finnish and international folk music and world music, alongside classical, jazz, pop, and cross-genre acts. This year’s line-up includes international names like Svetlana Spajic Group (RS)​ Tatiana Hargreaves & Allison de Groot (USA) and Erlend Viken Trio (NO), as well as local names like Wishamalii, Tallari, Saimaa, Värttinä, BFP and Timo Alakotila with Japanese accordionist Yuka Fujino. The artistic director for the event is Teija Niku. The Folk course organized before the festival is at the heart of the international event.

Tuska 27–29 June

Over the decades, Helsinki's Tuska – established in 1998 – has become one of Nordic countries' largest and best-known metal festivals. This year will see international bands like Electric Callboy (DE), Powerwolf (DE), Slaughter to Prevail (US), Lorna Shore (US), Dragonforce (UK), In Flames (SE), Cradle of Filth (UK) and Knocked Loose (US) fill up the Tuska stages, along with Finnish noisemakers such as Apocalyptica, Arion, Mokoma, Tarja, Marko Hietala, Battle Beast, Korpiklaani and Havukruunu.

Ihmemaa 28 June

Normally, the Sulkava Rowing Stadium is used to watching rowers, but on one Saturday in June, the stadium is filled with Finnish alternative music. Ihmemaa, which will be held for the fourth time this year, has become a fairly well-known alternative festival. Organized in a municipality with 2,300 inhabitants in Savo, the success of the event is due to a great program, unique environment and the communal atmosphere of a small event. This year, the acts include Bad Sauna, Ghost World, Saarisalo, Seksihullut, Serot, Sumuposauttaja Band, Poni, Ville Leinonen & Valumo, and Kaukolampi.

Sysmän Suvisoitto 28 June–5 July

Sysmän Suvisoitto is a diverse festival that takes place in the old, beautiful town of Sysmä at the beginning of July. The program, carefully curated by artistic director Laura Hynninen, consists of children's concerts as well as jazz and contemporary music. This year's performers include Okra Playground, Calla, Enna Puhakka, Hanna Hohti, Laura Hynninen, and Helmi Antila Quartet, among others.

Time of Music 1–6 July

Time of Music (Musiikin aika) in Viitasaari, Central Finland, focuses on cutting-edge contemporary music, and hosts the most important composers and artists of the field yearly, gaining an international reputation as a courageous, border-breaking, and innovative event. This year’s program was again conceived by Artistic Director Johan Tallgren and will be published shortly!

Jyväskylä Festival 2–8 July

The precursor to Finnish city festivals, Jyväskylä Festival (in the city of Jyväskylä, Central Finland) has strived throughout its history to stay ahead of its time and try new things. At the core of its multidisciplinary art program are classy and interesting performances, from pop to contemporary classical music and dance and theatre to films and clubs. The billing includes "Helsinki Noir Suite", a new 10-part orchestra work by jazz pioneers Valtteri Pöyhönen and Ricky-Tick Big Band with vocalist Emilia Sisco, as well as the one and only Arja Saijonmaa.

Ruisrock 4–6 July

The oldest rock festival in Finland, and the second oldest continuously running rock festival in Europe, located in Ruissalo Park, Turku, has successfully gravitated towards mainstream electronic, hip hop, and pop audiences in the past decade. In 2024, Ruisrock’s program features international stars like Camila Cabello (US), Axwell (SE), Peso Pluma (MX), Benjamin Ingrosso (SE), Gigi Perez (US), Yeat (US), Kenny Carson (US), Joost (NL), Nettspend (US), Purple Disco Machine (DE), Omar Rudberg (SE) and Miriam Bryant (SE). The line-up is complemented by great Finnish acts like KAJ, Robin Packalen, Emilia Sisco, and Erika Vikman as well as an all-you-can-eat menu of domestic mainstream Finn-pop and hip-hop.

Savonlinna Opera Festival 5 July–4 August

The Savonlinna Opera Festival, established in 1912, is undoubtedly the largest and best known opera festival in Finland. The Festival takes place in Savonlinna, at the medieval St. Olaf's Castle, built in 1475, located amid spectacular lake scenery. This year, the program includes classics such as Giuseppe Verdi’s Macbeth as well as Puccini’s Turandot. Finnish compositions include Joonas Kokkonen’s The Last Temptations.

Archipelago Sea Jazz 5 July­–10 August

Archipelago Sea Jazz is a four-festival series held in the intimate atmosphere of the Baltic Sea archipelago. Including Baltic Jazz, Korpo Sea Jazz, Turku Sea Jazz and Åland Sea jazz the group of festivals offer a wide selection of jazz from Finnish top artists. This summer, the Baltic Jazz festival offers two unique completion concerts, featuring swinging tributes to Benny Goodman, in the idyllic setting of Söderlångvik Manor. The concert program has been designed and arranged by Baltic Jazz’s artistic director, clarinetist Antti Sarpila, renowned for his deep knowledge of Goodman’s music and his virtuosic playing.

Kaustinen Folk Music Festival 7–13 July

Established in 1968, the Kaustinen Folk Music Festival is the largest folk music festival in the Nordic countries. During the festival week in Kaustinen, you can hear a multitude of Finnish acts and international names. Last year, over seven hundred groups, musicians, and dancers performed at the free-for-all folk jam festival! Kaustinen's theme this year is the phenomenon of migration, highlighting the role of traditions as part of an ongoing cultural dialogue. And of course, you can catch more than an earful of Kaustinen Fiddle Playing tradition – which is added to Unesco's list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Tangomarkkinat 10–12 July

Forget everything you know about tango – the Argentinian version – Finland's idea of tango is something very different. Bordering on schlager and these days even mainstream pop music, Finnish tango is thoroughly represented in Seinäjoki's Tangomarkkinat, the yearly main event for the genre, where even the "Tango Queen and King" of the year are crowned. If you’re from outside of Finland, these names maybe won’t say much to you, but just letting you know that Arttu Wiskari, Eini, Juha Tapio, Eija Kantola, Jarkko Ahola, Laura Voutilainen, Neon 2 and Tuure Kilpeläinen, among many others are performing this year. A true Finnish experience if anything is!

Ilosaarirock 15–17 July

Ilosaarirock Festival is held in the city of Joensuu in eastern Finland. The long-running festival is a favorite for Finnish music lovers, selling out every year. This summer, the program consists of international artists like Artemas (UK), Shaboozey (US), The Hu (MN), Nova Twins (UK), Battlesnake (AU), Alex Warren (US), Pete & Bas (UK) and Caskets (UK), along with domestic favorites such as Von Hertzen Brothers, Swallow the Sun, Michael Monroe, Grande Mahogany, Endstand and much more.

Bättre Folk 12–13 July

Bättre Folk, held in the beautiful surroundings of the Hailuoto island, has the reputation of an iconic “hipster” festival. In the past years, it has grown to be a popular, yet distinctive event with a lineup featuring some of Finland's biggest acts in indie and mainstream pop. Again this year the festival will host domestic names such as Us, Mirella, Aavikko, Vesta, Regina, Aaro630, Pehmoaino, and Vilma Jää. Besides music, Bättre Folk also offers new literature, sauna culture and community art for the audience to enjoy.

Mitäs Mitäs Mitäs 12–14 July

Positive vibes are indisputable, as the tenth-anniversary edition of Mitäs Mitäs Mitäs (which freely translates to “what now what now what now”) festival, organized in Nuutajärvi, Urjala, breaks all barriers as an unprejudiced celebration of arts. Visitors can take part in workshops, community artworks and participatory performances and the organizers encourage people to perform at the festival area and express themselves freely. The programme is filled with great indie and experimental acts from Aavikko to Cleaning Women and Nevada to Modem. Local underground hero Jukka Nousiainen will hit the stage with his international fellows Stevie Richards (AU) and Mike Meanstreetz (US). The live music will be topped with a smorgasbord of DJ’s and all kinds of art from modern circus performances to contemporary visual arts.

Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival 13–26 July

In less than 50 years, Kuhmo Chamber Music has grown to become one of the world's foremost classical music festivals. For a fortnight, chamber music takes over the streets of the 8,000-inhabitant town of Kuhmo, where over a hundred musicians perform at dozens of concerts. The theme for this year is ”Nordic Utopia" and the artistic directors are Minna Pensola and Antti Tikkanen. The program includes pieces by Oskar Merikanto, Timo Alakotila, Aulis Sallinen, Anna-Mari Kähärä, Matthew Whittall, Outi Tarkiainen, and countless others from classical to contemporary. There are also children’s concerts, student concerts, talks, instrument demonstrations, meetings with artists and composers, art exhibitions workshops, and unexpected musical moments in the surrounding nature.

Pori Jazz 17–19 July

Finland’s oldest jazz festival is known for a lineup that usually goes way beyond jazz. This year the lineup includes pop/rock legends Sting (UK), Roxette (SE) and Tower of Power (US), as well as genre-bending jazz, soul, and funk contemporaries like Makaya McCraven (US), Knower (US), Thee Sacred Souls (US), MRCY (UK), Liana Flores (UK/BR), Elles Bailey (UK), Franc Moody (UK) and Jazzmeia Horn (US) and international jazz greats like Lady Blackbird (US), Gregory Porter (US), Dana and Alden (US) and Isaiah Collier (US). Finnish acts include Ultra Bra, Arppa, Iiro Rantala, Five Corners Quintet, and countless more!

Sastamala Gregoriana 17–21 July

Sastamala Gregoriana is the leading early music festival in Finland. The festival has been organized annually since 1996 in the southwestern town of Sastamala. It is one of the oldest and largest early music events in Finland, where thousands of people come to enjoy medieval, renaissance, and baroque music, including around 3000 annual visitors from all over the world. The main venues of the festival are the old, spectacular lakeside churches of St Mary's and St Olaf’s, which have beautiful, unique acoustics and fascinating histories. The artistic director is Michael Fields and the program includes, for example “Sabbatum”, a concert of Black Sabbath's music performed in a medieval style by Rondellus (EE) and Händel's “Messiah” performed by e.g. soprano Tuuli Lindeberg and conducted by Fields himself.

Summer Sound 18–19 July

Helsinki's classy and legendary Old Student House venue transforms into an electronic music festival ground, when Summer Sound Festival brings together people to enjoy the performances of both international and local dj's. The festival programme has not been published yet, but make sure to check Summer Sound's website for updates!

Odysseus 19–20 July

Already having a reputation as a premier showcase for interesting new sounds, the 5th edition of Odysseus Festival will be held at the cultural centre Korjaamo in the Töölö neighborhood. The program of the event contains the crème de la crème of Finnish jazz, indie, folk and experimental music: Circle (playing two shows!), Pauli Lyytinen, Olimpia Splendid, Emilia Sisco, Sumuposauttaja, and Pietu Arvola, just to mention a few. This year's international guests include Josephine Foster (US), Asmaa Hamzaoui & Bnat Timbouktou (MA), Pierre Bastien (FR), and Dungen (SE).

Kuopiorock 24–26 July

Sometimes called the sunniest festival in Finland, Kuopiorock brings a great offering of mainly rock and metal music to the Northern Savonia. This year, the lineup includes international names like Floor Jansen (NL), D-A-D (DK), and The Hellacopters (SE), along with domestic rockers such as Deathchain, Marko Hietala, The 69 Eyes, Battle Beast, Cemetery Skyline, Demolition 23, Turmion Kätilöt, Maustetytöt and countless more.

Raahe Jazz on the Beach Festival 24–26 July

Raahe Jazz on the Beach Festival, with over three decades of history, is an intimate and modern outdoor jazz festival in the idyllic, old wooden seaside town Raahe in Northern Finland. This summer’s line-up has not been published yet.

Fiskars Summer Festival 25 July–3 August

Fiskars Summer Festival was born in the historic ironworks village of Fiskars, whose unique artistic community has always looked to the future for centuries. During the festival, a master class for young conductors at the beginning of their careers will be held under the leadership of internationally renowned top conductors, and chamber music concerts and symphony concerts will be organized at the Fiskars Ironworks.

Lieksa Brass Week 25 July–2 August

Boasting its status as the biggest brass festival in the Nordics, Lieksa Brass Week includes music courses, international competition and the classical concert series as well as open air performances. Working with artistic director Jouko Harjanne, the line-up is filled with names such as Nicolas Indermühle (CH), Denise Tryon (US), Selina Ott (DE), Sergio Carolino (PT) and many, many more!

Qstock 25–26 July

The two-day festival in Oulu, Northern Finland, gathers a lineup with the Finland’s premier artists such as KAJ, Cemetery Skyline, Battle Beast, Robin Packalen, Goldielocks, Us, Käärijä, Swallow the Sun and Von Hertzen Brothers. International names include Blues Pills (SE), Alan Walker (NO) and Palaye Royale (US).

Our Festival 28 July–3 August

Our Festival (in Finnish: Meidän Festivaali) is renowned for its fresh approach to the arts and its crossover events. With its artistic director group, the string quartet Kamus, the event seeks new perspectives on musical encounters and concert practices, with a view to giving the audience an experience that is simply not available elsewhere. Our Festival takes place in various locations in the landscapes of Lake Tuusula only half an hour’s drive north from Helsinki.

Mänttä Music Festival 29 July–2 August

Mänttä Music Festival is an international meeting point for friends of piano music, which promises "world-class piano recitals amidst art and nature". The event's artistic director is
Niklas Pokki
and the musicians include Risto-Matti Marin, Juho Pohjonen, Imogen Cooper (UK), Kirill Gerstein (US), Elisabeth Brauß (DE), Benjamin Grovesnor (UK) and Ingrid Fliter (AR).

Saltfest 31 July–3 August

SaltFest, now held for the 3rd time in the south-coastal town of Loviisa, comes with a diverse program presenting jazz, indie, punk, experimental and folk music. In addition to well-known artists, the four-day festival will feature new promising talents – and guaranteed surprises from different genres of music. The program is mainly curated by artistic director, veteran dj Bunuel (Måns Strömberg) and the lineup includes Emilia Sisco, Saimaa, Juurakko, Terveet Kädet, Helsinki-Cotonou Ensemble, Vimma, Django Collective Helsinki, and much more!

August

Smugglerrok 1–2 August

Held in Lieto, a province just outside the city of Turku, SmugglerRok caters a selection of Finnish rock and mainstream favorites. The lineup includes e.g. Stam1na, Mokoma, The 69 Eyes, and Marko Hietala.

Weekend Festival 1–2 August

This year, Finland’s most widely known EDM festival Weekend presents a "Disco Nation edition", which means that three stages will be filled with both international and domestic dj’s! Knob tweekers such as Armin Van Buuren (NL), Fisher (AU), Angerfist (NL), Blasterjaxx (NL), R3hab (NL), Da Tweekaz (NO) and Showtek (NL) are topping dj-heavy bill. Now for the 2nd consecutive year, the festival will take place at Vermo park, Espoo.

Saarihelvetti 1–2 August

Experience the heaviest and darkest metal music imaginable whilst being surrounded by the beautiful lake Pyhäjärvi. This is offered by the metal festival Saarihelvetti (which translates to “island hell”) held on the Viikinsaari island in Tampere. Again, the festival features a convincing lineup with some of the major names in the Finnish metal scene such as Stam1na, Insomnium, Havukruunu, Bloodred Hourglass, ...And Oceans and Shereign as well as international acts like Gaerea (PT) and MØL (DK).

Turku Music Festival 8–29 August

The Turku Music Festival is Finland’s oldest continuously running music festival, having been founded by the Musical Society in Turku in 1960. It has evolved into a diverse urban event with a wide range of excellent music including grand orchestral concerts, chamber music, recitals, jazz, outdoor events, and children’s concerts. The current Artistic Director is Lauri Porra. The guest roster includes Finnish and foreign stars each year – this time featuring international artists ranging from Víkingur Ólafsson (IS) to Jingjing Xu (CN). Domestic names include Janne Valkeajoki, Dalia Stasevska, Ensemble Gamut!, Hanna Hohti, A. Bloqvist, and Turku Philharmonic.

Flow Festival 8–10 August

One of Finland’s best known festivals internationally, Flow Festival provides music from pop and rock music mainstays to newcomers in genres ranging from r&b to indie, techno, jazz, hip hop and experimental music. All this is served in an old industrial site with exquisite light design and decorations, along with a range of tasteful menus from different restaurants – and what's best, it's right in the midst of Helsinki. This year the line-up includes international acts such as Charli XCX (UK), Yung Lean & Bladee (SE), Beth Gibbons (UK), FKA Twigs (UK), Fontaines DC (IE), Khruangbin (US), Little Simz (UK), Air (FR), Montell Fish (US), Underworld (UK), Autechre (UK), Snow Strippers (US), Avalon Emerson (US) and Kneecap (IE), as well as a wide selection of local greats.

Hellsinki Metal Festival 8–9 August

Founded in 2023, Hellsinki Metal Festival, held in the Helsinki Ice Hall area relies on classic heavy rock names from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, while spicing the programme up with some more contemporary names too. During the two-day event you can catch legendary bands like King Diamond (DK), Venom (UK), Hatebreed (US), Candlemass (SE), Forbidden (US), Dismember (SE), Ill Nino (US), Angelmaker (CA), Napalm Death (UK), Old Man's Child (NO), Fear Factory (US), Cult of Luna (SE), Michael Schenker (DE), Enslaved (NO), Decapitated (PL), Marduk (SE) and local talent such as Warmen, Qwälen, Luna Kills, Night Shall Drape Us, Kiuas and tons more!

BRQ Vantaa Festival 8–14 August

The old parish church of St Lawrence’s historical environment is at the heart of the unique BRQ Vantaa Festival, which showcases baroque (yes, hold your sauces – it's BRQ, not BBQ!) music and period instruments while also including musical works from other eras. The concert program will be published sometime in April, so make sure to follow the festival's communications.

Helsinki Festival 14–31 August

Helsinki Festival is a major arts festival, with a program consisting of concerts and happenings from all genres. This year's classical and contemporary music schedule contains, for example, Andrew Norman's Unstuck, performed by the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra FRSO with Susanna Mälkki conducting. From other genres you have Kruder & Dorfmeister (AT) Luz Casal (ES), Jalen Ngonda (UK), Wasia Project (UK), Anoushka Shankar (UK/US) and Bryce Dessner (US). On the bill you can also find domestic pop and rock artists like Olavi Uusivirta, Arppa, Ismo Alanko, Pehmoaino, Vesta and Hector as well as metal greats Swallow the Sun. The programming also contains dance, theater, film, visual arts, and children’s culture.

Blockfest 15–16 August

Blockfest is the biggest hip hop festival in the whole Nordic area, which has since 2008 gathered countless international rap royalties and local favorites to Tampere. This year, Blockfest brings a lineup of international acts like A$AP Rocky (US), A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie (US), Sexyy Red (US), Ty Dolla $ign (US), Central Cee (UK) and Nemzzz (UK) along with a list of domestic stars such as Ibe, Mirella, Sexmane and Turisti.

Ijahis Idja 15–16 August

Ijahis idja is the most important gathering and meeting point for the Sámi people in Finland. The festival presents a range of Sámi arts, sports competitions and handcrafts market and other side events. So far, no program has been announced – but if you keep visiting the festival's home page, you will surely find some artist names soon!

Kyröfest 16 August

Kyröfest, held at Kyrö rye distillery in Isokyrö, is promised to be "a unique village fiesta that brings people together". The line-up contains some of the coolest Finnish indie and pop names of today, such as Modem, Good Boys, Nössö Nova and Pariisin kevät. The municipality of Isokyrö is located in the South Ostrobothnia region, 43 kilometers from the nearest city, Vaasa, and 400 kilometers from Helsinki.

Festivaali 22–23 August

The music festival simply named "festival" – Festivaali in Finnish – celebrates the biggest and brightest local names in domestic alternative and mainstream pop. Festivaali will be held in the beautiful lake scenery of Pyynikki in the city of Tampere, shedding light to acts such as reunited noughties indie pop darlings Regina and Husky Rescue, boisterous mod rockers Us, eccentric electro mainstays Aavikko, and soul newcomer Emilia Sisco.
