BBC has commissioned Lotta Wennäkoski to write an orchestral work for the Proms festival. The new work, titled Flounce, will be premiered at the Last Night of the Proms on September 9 at the Royal Albert Hall in London by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and conductor Sakari Oramo.
Soprano Nina Stemme leads the end-of-season festivities, joined by the BBC Singers and BBC Symphony Chorus. In addition to Wennäkoski’s Flounce, the programme features a choral version of Jean Sibelius’ Finlandia, as well as works by John Adams, Malcolm Sargent and more.
