Defunensemble defines its function with a double CD

Highly distinctive Finnish contemporary music ensemble, defunensemble, has released a double CD under the title Define Function. The group formed in 2009 is known for its innovative concert programmes performed by its virtuosic musicians. During the past years defunensemble has given several Finnish premieres of essential electroacoustic works.

Define Function is the first album of defunensemble and it introduces electroacoustic works of different types, including works by Finnish composers Ville Raasakka, Timothy Page, Juhani Nuorvala, Veli-Matti Puumala and Sami Klemola. “With this double CD we are defining the functions of defunesemble. If you are interested in microtuned organ samples, digital error sounds, weird Moog filters or glitch harp textures, this is a must-listen!” describes Sami Klemola, the artistic director of the ensemble. Other members of defunensemble are Hanna Kinnunen (flute), Mikko Raasakka (clarinet), Lily-Marlene Puusepp (harp), Emil Holmström (piano), Markus Hohti (cello), Anders Pohjola and Marko Myöhänen (electronics).

Define Function is a release by SibaRecords and internationally it is distributed by Naxos.
