Janne Hyöty receives the Export of the year 2015 award
The Finnish Music Publishers Association has awarded songwriter Janne Hyöty with The 2015 Export award. In the recent years Hyöty, published by Sugar House Publishing, has written numerous hit songs especially for Japanese, Korean and Chinese bands, as well as many Finnish Eurovision Song Contest candidates. The panel that issued the award explained that "Janne Hyöty has been one of the most successful Finnish songwriters in the Japanese market for several years."
This year, for Hyöty was awarded double platinum for Japanese band Arashi’s single "The Endless Game", which means that its sales have exceeded the 500 000 mark in Japan. Arashi’s album Love was also awarded triple platinum disc for the sale of over 750 000 copies. In the past Hyöty has also written songs for various Asian acts such as Daichi, Kat-Tun and Sexy-Zone. In Finland Janne Hyöty is also known as a solo artist, guitarist and producer.
In addition to the Export award, Finnish Music Publishers' Association awarded prizes with magnitude of € 2,000 in three other categories. Olli Kortekangas was chosen as the art music composer of the year, Thomas Kirjonen (also known as pop singer Kasmir) was awarded as the popular music maker of and year and singer-songwriter Sanni’s track "2080-luvulla" was named best song of the year.
