Kimmo Pohjonen’s Sensitive Skin at number two on WMCE chart

Kimmo Pohjonen’s latest album Sensitive Skin, released by Octopus / Ondine in October, has jumped to the number 2 position on the World Music Charts Europe December chart. In November the album entered the chart at position number 4.

Sensitive Skin, which is Pohjonen’s tenth album, was produced by James Spectrum. The album features his usual collaborators Kronos Quartet, Samuli Kosminen, Inka and Saana Pohjonen, Lauri Porra as well as many others. Svart Records will release the vinyl version of the album in December.

The album has received raving reviews from critics, as Songlines Magazine chose the album as Top of the World pick and gave it full points (5/5). The magazine’s writer Julian May said that “Sensitive Skin is emotionally engaging, intellectually fascinating and demandingly exuberant”. MOJO gave the album 4 out of 5 stars and called it “ridiculously accessible, with strong melodies, great arrangements for the Kronos Quartet and unusual vocal harmonies provided by the Finn’s daughters” in its review. Also Soundbreaker, the documentary about Pohjonen, was given four stars by Songlines Magazine.

Pohjonen, Samuli Kosminen and Proton String Quartet perform Uniko live at Wien Konzerthaus on December 7. In spring Pohjonen will have live dates in Luxembourg and Germany. See his calendar here
