Lindberg, Salonen and Vänskä nominated for Grammy awards
Composer Magnus Lindberg and conductors Esa-Pekka Salonen and Osmo Vänskä have been nominated for this year’s Grammy awards.
Lindberg received the nomination for the Best Contemporary Classical Composition with Piano Concerto No. 2. The soloist on the recording, Yefim Bronfman, was also nominated for the Best Classical Instrumental Solo.
Esa-Pekka Salonen is also nominated on the Best Contemporary Classical Composition category with Violin Concerto. Also Leila Josefowicz (violin), who plays on the record, wasa nominated for the Best Classical Instrumental Solo.
Salonen’s performance of Lutosławski’s Symphony No. 1 with Los Angeles Philharmonic was nominated for the Best Orchestral Performance, as was Osmo Vänskä’s performance of Sibelius’ Symphonies Nos. 1 & 4 with Minnesota Orchestra.
