The finals of Uuno Klami Composition Competition were held on 13 and 14 November in Finland. This year’s winner is Luca Vago from Italy who won with his entry Suite de los espejos. Finnish composer Sauli Zinovjev came third with his work Gryf.

The jury, consisting of composers Kalevi Aho, Magnus Lindberg, Erkki-Sven Tüür and conductor Yasuo Shinozaki, selected the winners based on the concerts as well as the rehearsals of the works. 

Entries for the competition were submitted by 265 composers representing 37 nationalities. The standard of the entries was so high that the jury decided to issue a list of 26 works definitely worth a performance in addition to the five selected for the finals. 

The five works chosen for the finals were performed by the Kymi Sinfonietta under conductor Yasuo Shinozaki at concerts held in Kouvola on November 13 and Kotka on November 14. The soloists were Piia Komsi (soprano) and Gabriel Suovanen (baritone).
