Two Finnish jazz acts Mopo and Oddarrang have been chosen to play the competed Jazzahead 2016 showcase. Jazzahead is the most important annual gathering of the European jazz professionals, taking place in Bremen, Germany between 21 and 24 April 2016.
Oddarrang, gaining rave reviews for their genre-defying soundscapes, have recently signed with the German agency Handshake Booking, who will represent the Finns in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. At the moment, Oddarrang are working on their new album to be released in the fall 2016.
Mopo are a trio drawing inspiration from the 70's punk and famed for their frenetic live shows. In the beginning of 2015, Mopo received the Jazz Emma Award (known as "the Finnish Grammies") for their album Beibe. The trio is looking ahead to a busy spring: before Jazzahead, they will head to e.g. Eurojazz Festival in Mexico to perform there 20 March and on a tour in Germany in May.
