Teppo Koivisto named professor in Hanover
Pianist Teppo Koivisto has been invited to be a professor of piano at the University of Music, Drama and Media Hanover (Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover) for the academic year 2015–2016. Koivisto (b. 1961) is a long-term lecturer of piano at the Sibelius Academy. He is also one of the founders of Maj Lind Piano Forum and a piano academy for young talented musicians in Finland. As a pianist he has performed both as a soloist and as a chamber musician in several European countries and in the United States.
The University of Music, Drama and Media Hanover is one of Germany's most renowned institutions for professional training and academic study in the cultural and artistic field, with more than 1400 students from all over the world. Moreover, it is one of the most essential universities in piano teaching. Another Finnish pianist, Matti Raekallio, has held a professor's position at the university for several years.
