This November, Music Finland’s showcase event, "DIY x WTF Showcase", returns to London for the 2nd year with three exciting Finnish acts: Glayden, Us, and MALLA.
Following last year’s sold-out show, we are once again teaming up with DIY Mag for the WTF x DIY Showcase, a night celebrating Finland’s thriving music scene. Taking place at The Old Blue Last on 19th November, DIY & WTF Present: The Nordic Invasion will bring together three of Finland’s most exciting emerging acts.
The showcase will offer a snapshot of the breadth of Finland’s contemporary music scene from experimental electronics to fuzzy guitars. For the Finnish community in the capital, it’s an opportunity to see homegrown talent up close; for everyone else, it’s an invitation to discover what’s happening beyond the usual musical borders.
Tickets are available from £13.63 at DICE. To get acquainted with the talent on show, indulge below!
Meet the acts at DIY x WTF – Welcome to Finland showcase!
Leading the line-up is Helsinki-based Glayden, whose sound pulls together left-field experimental electronics, alternative rap and underground club propulsion. Alongside them is Malla, who blends house, disco, synth-pop and more adventurous electronic textures, and Us, who bring a firm mix of garage rock, indie and punk. Keep reading more below!
Glayden
Glayden is a Helsinki-based singer, songwriter, and DJ releasing music independently through BELOW0, carrying the cold melancholy and fragile optimism of his city in everything he makes. His work finds unexpected connections between genres and subcultures that rarely share the same space, sitting at the intersection of earworm songwriting and experimental textures. A Children of Bodom sample meeting a vocal refrain borrowed from Madonna is just one thread in a patchwork quilt mapping the terrain of love, addiction and hard-won hope.
”...draws from every conceivable aesthetic to craft a unique world of his own, where pop-song lyrics collide with trance and, occasionally, trap beats” – Rolling Stone Italia
Us are a Helsinki-based four-piece who have established themselves as one of Finland’s most promising emerging rock'n'roll exports through years of determined international touring and grassroots momentum. The band’s second full-length album, Everybody’s Giving Up The Cabaret, channels garage rock, punk and classic British rhythm & blues into a vibrant and unmistakably modern sound. It was recorded in London with producer Charlie Russell (Liam Gallagher, Alt-J), capturing the raw energy and sharp songwriting that have become the band’s trademark. Us is made up of brothers Teo Hirvonen, Pan Hirvonen and Max Somerjoki, alongside their longtime friend Leevi Jämsä. Renowned for their electrifying live performances, the quartet has honed their craft through extensive touring, including multiple appearances at Glastonbury Festival and a remarkable third consecutive performance at Japan’s legendary Fuji Rock Festival this summer. The album’s advance singles have received radio airplay in Finland, the UK and Japan. In Japan, the single Yo-Yo Revolution reached No. 8 on a national radio chart for international artists. The album is released in Japan by Sony Music. Us has played sold-out club shows across the UK, appeared at prominent festivals throughout Europe, and shared stages with artists including The Libertines. The band also recorded their debut album, Underground Renaissance (2024), at The Libertines’ studio. Read Music Finland's recent spotlight article on Us.

MALLA
MALLA is a Helsinki-based artist, producer, DJ, and actor who fuses house, disco, and electronic sounds into a style entirely her own. Inspired by analog synths and drum machines, her music moves between infectious rhythms and immersive soundscapes, resonating equally on the dancefloor and on the radio. Her debut album Malla (2021) broke new ground by pairing her distinctive, emotionally charged electronic sound with the Finnish language and her soft, intimate vocal delivery. With Fresko (2023), she deepened her sonic world with groovier, techno-inspired textures, further establishing herself as a tastemaker in the Nordic electronic scene while steadily expanding her international presence. Her 3rd album, Pieni Exit (2025), received rave reviews, with Soundi magazine stating: "House, drum & bass and disco-inflected elements come together to create a sound that is felt as much as heard: enticing and twisting, yet never forceful".Beyond her own releases, Malla has collaborated with Leon Michels (El Michels Affair) on "Synthia" (Big Crown Records, 2023), lending her vocals to the B-side “You & I,” while the A-side features indie-pop sensation Clairo. She has also worked with Estonian producer, artist, and DJ boipepperoni on the track “Open Heart”. Malla's sound transcends language, capturing audiences worldwide.
