April Jazz Subgrooves live streams four concerts' worth of of new Finnish jazz
This year's April Jazz festival will be an online experience that will showcase some of the most interesting names in contemporary Finnish jazz!
April Jazz is a jazz festival which has been held annually in Espoo, Finland since 1987. This year – and COVID19 – brings obvious changes to April Jazz just like any other festival: the event will be organized as an online event.
This year named "April Jazz Subgrooves", the event includes four concerts that will be broadcast live from G Livelab Helsinki through the live music streaming site keikalla.fi. The event takes place this week: between Wednesday 22nd and Saturday 25th April, the festival will present two prominent Finnish jazz artists or bands each night. The acts on this year's line-up are: Verneri Pohjola & Mika Kallio, Kadi Vija Key Project, Maja Mannila, Timo Lassy & Teppo Mäkynen, Tatu Rönkkö, Superposition, Kari Ikonen – as well as one surprise act.
After buying a ticket, you can enjoy the live broadcasts and also watch the concert recordings up to 6 days after the event. During intermissions, there will be artists' interviews and discussion (in English) about music, hosted by legendary radio dj Njassa (Radio Helsinki).
This year, Music Finland collaborates with April Jazz Subgrooves by inviting international professionals to watch the online event.
