WTF – Welcome to Finland showcase

WTF is Finland? Perhaps the happiest country in the world—or so they say. Despite the long winters, deep dark forests (read: alcohol), and Santa Claus, Finland has also carved out a unique place in the global music scene. It's a country with the highest number of metal bands per capita, and it’s home to not only some of the world’s finest classical music talents but also incredible pop artists, songwriters, and world-class producers. The WTF Showcase introduces four of Finland’s freshest artists.

Goldielocks is a rising star blending modern pop with retro band vibes. Polymoon offers a psychedelic rock experience with elements of shoegaze and progressive rock. Jesse Markin fuses rap, indie, pop, soul, R&B, progressive rock, and African rhythms into his unique sound. Cyan Kicks, meanwhile, combines heavy music, pop melodies, and electronic elements for a powerful blend.

Cyan Kicks

Cyan Kicks, formed in 2016, captivates global audiences with their explosive live performances and unique dream-rock sound. Lead songwriters Susanna Alexandra and Niila Perkkiö, along with bassist Leevi Erkkilä and drummer Pietari Reijonen, have built a dedicated fanbase through headline tours and major festivals like SXSW and Eurosonic. Their album "I Never Said 4ever" explores personal themes of growth and resilience, embodying the Finnish "Sisu" spirit. Their 2024 UMK entry, "Dancing With Demons," co-written by Dan Lancaster, delves into a darker, unpredictable side of their music.
