Music Finland's "WTF – Welcome to Finland showcase" returns to Iceland Airwaves with three fresh showcase acts: Maustetytöt, MALLA, and Orvokki. Again, the event takes place at the NASA venue on Friday, November 7th.
Iceland Airwaves is the world's northernmost music showcase and professional festival. The event brings together the country's emerging artists and the latest international acts every year. Launched in 1999, Iceland Airwaves has since become Iceland's oldest festival and most well-known music brand, and an integral part of Reykjavik's annual cultural offering. The festival traditionally attracts a significant number of music gatekeepers from Europe and America.
WTF – Welcome to Finland Showcase
WTF is Finland? Perhaps the happiest country in the world—or so they say. Despite the long winters, deep dark forests (read: alcohol), and Santa Claus, Finland has also carved out a unique place in the global music scene. It's a country with the highest number of metal bands per capita, and it’s home to not only some of the world’s finest classical music talents but also incredible pop artists, songwriters, and world-class producers.
This year, at Iceland Airwaves, Music Finland's showcase event WTF – Welcome to Finland Showcase comes back for a second round on Friday, November 7th at NASA (Thorvaldsensstræti 2, Reykjavik 101), between 20:30–23:00. This is an excellent opportunity to discover Finland’s hottest new sounds from icy and minimal indie schlager to clubby disco and experimental electronic pop! In other words, we are proud to present Maustetytöt, MALLA, and Orvokki. Scroll down to learn more about the acts.
Maustetytöt
Maustetytöt's music is an irresistible combination of catchy melodies and hyper-realistic lyrics that one can really relate to. Maustetytöt released their debut single "Tein kai lottorivini väärin" in early 2019. The song immediately became a modern classic and has been streamed over 10 million times. Maustetytöt have released three albums so far. All the albums can be found at the top of the best-selling albums charts in Finland every year.
Awards, gold records, and hundreds of sold-out concerts have solidified Maustetytöt's position as one of Finland's most popular bands. Their recent collaboration with iconic director and auteur Aki Kaurismäki in his acclaimed movie Fallen Leaves has opened doors internationally for the band. Since 2023, Maustetytöt have been touring in France, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Spain, the Netherlands, Greece, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, and Estonia. Maustetytöt has been featured in international media like The New York Times, The Guardian, Vogue, and Rolling Stone.
In 2026 Maustetytöt will release their fourth album and continue touring in addition to Finland also in the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and different parts of Scandinavia.

MALLA is a Helsinki-based artist, producer, DJ, and actor who fuses house, disco, and electronic sounds into a style entirely her own. Inspired by analog synths and drum machines, her music moves between infectious rhythms and immersive soundscapes, resonating equally on the dancefloor and on the radio.
Her debut album MALLA (2021) broke new ground by pairing her distinctive, emotionally charged electronic sound with the Finnish language and her soft, intimate vocal delivery. With Fresko (2023), she deepened her sonic world with groovier, techno-inspired textures, further establishing herself as a tastemaker in the Nordic electronic scene while steadily expanding her international presence.
Beyond her own releases, MALLA has collaborated with Leon Michels (El Michels Affair) on "Synthia" (Big Crown Records, 2023), lending her vocals to the B-side “You & I,” while the A-side features indie-pop sensation Clairo. She has also worked with Estonian producer, artist, and DJ boipepperoni on a track, “Open Heart,” released on October 31st, 2025. Now working on her third studio album, due in early 2026, MALLA began a new chapter with “Toista tilaisuutta ei ehkä tuu” (2025). Her sound transcends language, capturing audiences worldwide.
When an emotion is hard to describe, it can be turned into music. Orvokki’s music lets you float away to somewhere else for a moment – into a place where even the most vague, difficult feelings can be experienced and processed. Studying music technology in Berlin, Germany, Orvokki gathers influences from all over the world. Her work is collage-like, with unusual structures and rhythmic surprises intertwining into an electrically pulsating dream. Orvokki's debut album Kasvotusten was released in 2023 and nominated for the coveted Teosto Prize in Finland. The follow-up, Orvokki's sophomore album named Malus, will be out on the eve of the WTF Iceland Airwaves edition, November 7th.
