Jaakko Eino Kalevi

In 2013 Finland's lo-fi indie pop singer-songwriter-musician-producer (and former tram driver) Jaakko Eino Kalevi became the first ever Nordic act signed to Domino Records. Two years after his eponymous Domino/Weird World debut (2015) he put out "Orbit Variations" with his friend Long-Sam as the band MAN DUO. "Out Of Touch" was released in 2018 and a new EP, "Dissolution" followed in November 2019. After a somewhat quieter period, Jaakko Eino Kalevi returned in 2023 with a new electronic track "Nab" on FLEE's creative residency program, which he produced together with Nabihah Iqbal.

Tomppabeats is a beatmaker, who makes wonky lo-fi instrumental hip hop in the vein of J Dilla, Madlib and Flying Lotus. So far he’s released two albums on Vinyl Digital and attracted a sizable audience inside the alternative hip hop scene.

Eetu Rantakokko and Tino Lainisalo, together known as YES YES are an emerging electronic dance music duo from Finland. Their solid string of single releases started in 2021 and includes a lot of cover versions of international megahits like Montero (Call Me By Your Name), Abcdefu, and Wicked Game, but also original songs, such as All for One.

Otto Taimela

Electronic producer and composer Otto Taimela does not like categorisations for his music, but we'll try anyway: to say the most obvious, his music combines elements of ambient, house, drum and bass, trance and downtempo. Taimela started putting his music out to the world around 2018, and according to Discogs now has seven albums out already, out of which four are cassette releases and two on vinyl. A synthwave trio hailing from Jyväskylä, NightStop have been providing pure retro 80's electric sounds since 2013. During that timeline, they have amassed together a formidable catalogue of music, including four albums – the latest being 2020's "Pursuer" – and well over a dozen singles and ep's. The international synthwave community has also embraced NightStop with tens of millions of streams around the world.

Pihka is My Name

Pihka is My Name is a band fronted by an animation character Pihka. Pihka is a small robot, an imaginary friend who is not needed anymore. She finds herself forgotten in a snow covered forest and sets off on an adventure on her own. Pihka is My Name is a project of PihkaSound, a Helsinki-based production duo Henna Helasvuo and Lasse Turunen

Detalji is a Helsinki-based artist, producer and sound designer known for her self-written anthems dedicated to the club culture as well as cravings for substances and intimacy. Strongly influenced by 1990s techno music and IDM, Detalji builds her songs in a progressive manner combining pop hooks with raw synths. Detalji released her dancefloor-friendly debut ep "SEX" in March 2018.

Electronic producer Recens (Topias Rajala) hails from Oulu, North Ostrobothnia. He started releasing his tracks independently in 2018 and after about 15 singles, caught the ear of Rotterdam-based Soave Records label in 2022. The sound of Recens is chill, ethereal, melodic, melancholic and house-based electronic music that ofter relies on guest vocalists.

Snapir

Snapir is an artist, producer and a multi-instrumentalist based in Helsinki, Finland. In 2020, snapir joined Booa Music as a studio musician and a producer making productions and tracks for artists such as Louie Blue, Vince Vigo and local rapper jambo. Soon snapir released his solo debut, a melodic house track "Come Back". In 2021 snapir dove deeper into electronic music, with curiosity towards unheard sounds and unorthodox style of making music, which led snapir's debut EP "Lung", released in March 2022.

Yotto has already made his debut on the BBC’s iconic Essential Mix, to add to his 5 ‘Essential New Tune’ nods from Pete Tong, and 2 ‘Hottest Record In the World’ selections on Annie Mac’s show. His multifarious remix list includes Gorillaz, Röyksopp and Coldplay. Yotto's debut album "Hyperfall" was released on Anjunabeats label in 2018 and in 2019 he founded his own label, Odd One Out.

Finnish electronic music mainstay Jori Hulkkonen started his career in the early 1990's, releasing his debut album Selkäsaari Tracks on F Communications label in 1996. Hulkkonen has more than a dozen albums and roughly around fifty singles/ep's under his given name, worked in 15 groups and produced music under dozens of different aliases and played hundreds of dj slots. The latest album from the incredibly prolific Jori Hulkkonen is 2021's "Song Birds Refuse To Sing".

Klas-Henrik Lindblad, a Finnish DJ and producer now based in Berlin, is a man with various aliases – out of which Sasse may be the best known. Under his Freestyle Man guise, Lindblad mainly releases deep house tracks which are sometimes jazzy and sometimes more minimal. On Freestyle Man tracks during the past five or so years, Lindblad has frequently collaborated with Jimi Tenor.

Orkidea (Tapio Hakanen) has been one of Scandinavia’s leading trance DJs since the early 90s. He is best known for his unique blend of trance and progressive house: credible and firmly rooted in the underground origins of those genres. His music has been supported by a wide variety of DJs from taste makers such as Pete Tong and Sasha to stadium filling titans Armin van Buuren and Tiesto, with whom Orkidea enjoyed sharing the stage too.

Composer and musician Jimi Tenor needs no introduction: after 30 years of career as an established artist, Tenor has redefined his style and sound over and over again and moved from 60s and 70s jazz, psychedelic soul and African funk to techno and experimental rock. Tenor continues to release music in different formats and through different labels at a formidable pace. 2019 Tenor released an ep with another Finnish electronic music mainstay, Freestyle Man (a.k.a. Klas Lindblad or Sasse) on the famed Swedish label Studio Barnhus.

Aki Himanen & Aleksi Kinnunen

Aki Himanen and Aleksi Kinnunen are jazz musicians and electronic music producers. The band was formed in early 2019 out of a desire to combine the spontaneity of jazz music and the dark electronic sound world. In 2020, the duo released their debut album, "Scapes I", with the idea of bringing Ornette Coleman’s collective improvisation to the present day, utilizing the interaction between machines and people as well as the techniques of generative music. The machines give impulses to the musicians, but at the same time they also react to the playing of the drums and trumpet in their own unpredictable way.

His vast catalog includes releases on labels such as Compost, Freerange, Delusions Of Grandeur, Room With A View, FINA and Eskimo.

The established musicians and composers Tuomo Puranen and Timo Kaukolampi known from acts such as KXP and Opel Bastards, focus especially on sync music and soundtracks. Their latest release “DJ Sex – Rakkaus tulee” is the first release from their upcoming soundtrack album for the tv series “Mister8” drawing inspiration from the late 70’s post-punk.

Kupla

With no less than eight albums and EP's under his belt between 2017–2021, beatmaker Kupla (neé Lauri Achté) is born and raised in Helsinki, but based in London since 2013. Kupla has studied classical music and jazz, and recently also picked up the clarinet to spice up his chilled tracks, which have been streaming dozens of millions times on Spotify's popular playlists such as "Lo-Fi Beats" and "Chill Lofi Study Beats", et cetera.

The Second Level aka Daniel Helenius is a Helsinki based DJ and producer playing dance without genre limits. After the won of a mixtape competition in 2013, he was discovered by promoters who gave him a chance to support Guetta at his outdoor concert in 2014. Misha is a rapper, beatmaker and a producer whose musical background is strongly in melodic soul-based hip-hop. Misha was born in Moscow, Russia, but moved to his current home town Helsinki as a child. He first found success rapping in Finnish under the artist name Haamu, releasing his rap debut in 2006, but soon started producing beats. His music combines IDM with fluttering microtonal melodies. On his latest 17 albums or so Aleksi Perälä has used the novel musical tuning system called Colundi.
