Aleksi Perälä

Electronic producer Aleksi Perälä (originally known by his monikers Ovuca and Astrobotnia) is a pioneer in the Nordic techno scene, whose music has been released by labels such Rephlex, Clone and трип since 1999. His music combines IDM with fluttering microtonal melodies. On his latest 17 albums or so Aleksi Perälä has used the novel musical tuning system called Colundi.

Orkidea (Tapio Hakanen) has been one of Scandinavia’s leading trance DJs since the early 90s. He is best known for his unique blend of trance and progressive house: credible and firmly rooted in the underground origins of those genres. His music has been supported by a wide variety of DJs from taste makers such as Pete Tong and Sasha to stadium filling titans Armin van Buuren and Tiesto, with whom Orkidea enjoyed sharing the stage too.

With no less than six albums and EP's under his belt between 2017–2019, beatmaker Kupla (neé Lauri Achté) is born and raised in Helsinki, but based in London since 2013. Kupla has studied classical music and jazz, and recently also picked up the clarinet to spice up his chilled tracks, which have been streaming dozens of millions times on Spotify's popular playlists such as "Lo-Fi Beats" and "Chill Lofi Study Beats", et cetera.

Jori Hulkkonen

Finnish electronic music mainstay Jori Hulkkonen started his career in the early 1990's, releasing his debut album Selkäsaari Tracks on F Communications label in 1996. Hulkkonen has released ten albums and fourty singles under his given name, worked in 15 groups and produced music under dozens of different aliases and played hundreds of dj slots. The latest album from Jori Hulkkonen is 2018's "Simple Music for Complicated People".

Cid Inc.

Following a successful time in the mid-2000s with his duo Mashtronic, which was one of the leaders of the electro-club scene, Henri Hurtig began to create music under the Cid Inc. moniker. Since then he’s become one of the most sought-after talents in the progressive house scene, with releases on Anjunadeep, Lost & Found, microCastle, Natura Sonoris and Sudbeat.

Jimi Tenor

Composer and musician Jimi Tenor needs no introduction: after 30 years of career as an established artist, Tenor has redefined his style and sound over and over again and moved from 60s and 70s jazz, psychedelic soul and African funk to techno and experimental rock. Tenor continues to release music in different formats and through different labels at a formidable pace. 2019 Tenor released an ep with another Finnish electronic music mainstay, Freestyle Man (a.k.a. Klas Lindblad or Sasse) on the famed Swedish label Studio Barnhus.

Detalji is a Helsinki-based artist, producer and sound designer known for her self-written anthems dedicated to the club culture as well as cravings for substances and intimacy. Strongly influenced by 90’s techno music and IDM, Detalji builds her songs in a progressive manner combining pop hooks with raw synths. Detalji released her danceable debut EP SEX in March 2018.

Currently the most streamed Finnish artist on Spotify (domestic or international), 22-year-old Idealism alias Lassi Kotamäki makes chilled music based on relaxing piano chords, dusty, mellow hip hop beats and field recordings. Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he studies medicine, the extremely prolific Idealism has already released dozens of tracks on digital platforms since he started in 2017, on albums and singles.

Yotto has already made his debut on the BBC’s iconic Essential Mix, to add to his 5 ‘Essential New Tune’ nods from Pete Tong, and 2 ‘Hottest Record In the World’ selections on Annie Mac’s show. His multifarious remix list includes Gorillaz, Röyksopp and Coldplay. Yotto's debut album "Hyperfall" was released on Anjunabeats label in 2018 and in 2019 he founded his own label, Odd One Out.

“Aquatic electro meets Düsseldorf School as Finnish synth rockers perform long overdue exhumation of what should have been Electroclash 2.0” – Join two-man supergroup Jussi Lehtisalo (known from bands like Circle, Rättö & Lehtisalo, Pharao Overlord and Split Cranium) and Ilari Larjosto (also familiar from Jesse, Tähtiportti, Anaalivaihe etc) on a “smaller-than-life excursion of dark throbs in our high-definition tele-presence”.

O Samuli A

A veteran in the Helsinki electro scene, O Samuli A produces electronic music ranging from “soothing dumbient soundscapes to funky chipstep bleeps and styles”. O Samuli A’s new album Condition Yellow, released under through Svart Records, follows the guidelines set of his previous album Field Trip.


Producer Topi appeared on the dubstep scene around 2014 with his buzzsaw synths and deep sub bass sounds. Topi has released music on the Canadian label Monstercat as well as Good Enuff, Shred Collective and Pacha Recordings. In 2018 and 2019 he has released a string of independent singles including "Killswitch", "Digitize" and "Master Plan".

Juhani Saksikäsi

Beatmaker, cratedigger and formerly also a rapper from Finland, Juhani Saksikäsi ("Juhani Scissorhands") makes mostly sample based music with little spice from synthesizers and old drum machines. His first releases are from late 90's – the latest album "Muutokset mahdollisia" hit the streets in 2019.

Electronic music producer Sansibar makes mind-warping mutant club music with an eclectic style dipping wildly between Detroit electro, jackin’ chi-trax, futuristic techno-bass and all the things between. Sansibar has announced the release of his debut album in August following the EP “White Swan” released in early 2019.


Producer and songwriter Janji, born 1993 in Helsinki, scored a streaming hit with his song "Heroes Tonight" in 2015 which featured Swedish singer Johnning. The song has over 40 million streams on Spotify since it has been playlisted in numerous gaming playlists. In the past couple of years Janji has released nearly a dozen singles as an independent artist on his own label.

Jukio Kallio

Japan-born Finnish composer and singer-songwriter Jukio Kallio's music leaps between intimate minimal pop, to life affirming piano compositions, and diverse world-building soundtracks. His soundtrack for indie video game Minit was featured on Fact Magazine's list of 10 Best Video Game Soundtracks of 2018.

Producer Rony Rex has years of experience as a club DJ, playing both local and international venues, as well as hosting his own radio shows. In 2017 Rony Rex started releasing his own energetic and dancefloor-ready tunes on the Youth Control label. His releases include Fucked It Up EP (2017) along with several singles.

Turku-based musician Mesak has enjoyed a two decade career in the Finnish scene, playing everywhere from clubs to galleries, in different groups and as a solo act. Styles and names are bountiful and plenteous, from the electro bangers of Mr Velcro Fastener to the ethno rap of Ya Tosiba, Mesak’s twisted downbeat releases on the Harmönia label as well as his more experimental music and sound art.

Best known for his career as bass player in Finnish pop bands PMMP and My First Band, Juho Vehmanen combines alternative pop with electronic production as Helsinski.


Following three EPs, electronic music producer Lapsihymy released his debut LP Dreams Take Over Everything via Royal Mint. Lapsihymy creates summery songs that mix woozy synth walls with skittering beats and vocal snippets.


The former guitarist for indie darlings Satellite Stories, Marko Heikkinen launched his electro alter ego Kyyhky (which translates to dove) in 2017 with the single "Art Chocolate Nature", just as his band was on the verge of splitting. Two more singles followed in 2018, finally leading to the release of Kyyhky's debut ep "Do You Feel Lonely?" in 2019.

Tähtiportti (tr. stargate) is a veritable who’s who of the Finnish leftfield music scene: Albert Witchfinder (Reverend Bizarre, Opium Warlords, Spiritus Mortis) provides vocals, while Vilunki 3000 (Op:l Bastards, Larry & The Lefthanded), Stiletti-Ana (Jesse), and late Randy Barracuda (Perttu Häkkinen, known from i.e. Imatran Voima) handle the instrumentation. Over a downbeat, almost frozen techno music backdrop, a Finnish male voice recounts stories of abysses, of an abyss within the abysses. Primitive techno and the darkly ancient flow of poetry are the fuel that Tähtiportti runs on.

Formed in Siilinjärvi in 1995, synth trio Aavikko's sixth album Monopoly (2019) is "pure 'Disco Muysic', functional music – mere synthetic assemblage of electronic sounds, that’s meant to be used". According to the band – consisting of legendary drummer Tomi Leppänen (Circle, K-X-P etc) along with keyboardists Paul Staufenbiel and Tomi Kosonen – their actual command is very simple: "we play, you dance".
